About Greg Gershman

Hi, my name is Greg Gershman, gregword.com is my personal blog. I’m an experienced software engineer, blogger and entrepreneur, with ten years of experience developing and maintaining high performance web-based applications.

In 2003, I founded Blogdigger, a blog search engine useful for finding and tracking the opinions of bloggers all around the world.  In 2007, Blogdigger was acquired by Odeo.com, and I joined as Vice President of Search and Engineering.  We relaunched the site, resulting in a doubling of traffic and revenues in under three months.

I run a web development consulting company in the Washington, DC area called Shelrick WEB|DEV.    We specialize in building complex, scalable, data-intesive applications, particularly search applications using Lucene and Solr.  We work in just about any language or environment out there, but prefer Ruby on Rails (for elegance and simplicity) and Java (for heavy lifting).  We also help individuals and organizations understand the constantly evolving online landscape and how they can effectively find, track and engage in the online conversations relevant to their business.  Check out our portfolio and case studies, and let us know how we can help you with your project.

I’m also working on a new startup in the search space.  Stay tuned for more information.

I’m available on IM (greggersh on Yahoo/AIM); my email is greg AT shelrick DOT com.
